mourner The darkness this debut provides is immense. Pummeling like an avalanch of massive rocks and the atmospherical accents the guitars leads are bringing in are carefully chosen and well crafted. A band to keep an eye on for sure. Favorite track: Pożeracz czasu.

Slug. This reminds me of stuff coming out of the northeast US metal/hardcore scene in 1996; bands like DeadEyesUnder, Ire, Die My Will, Dawn of Orion, and that’s a good thing.

Brian M. A little bit of KSM, a bit of Mgla, a sprinkle of Cultes des Ghoules... this EP is well-inspired and equally well-executed. Mikolaj handles the mastering beautifully, which is no surprise given the similarities to his own compositions. It's nothing groundbreaking, but it's damn satisfying and I want more! Favorite track: Kosy ostrze.

Ippocalyptica I was thinking to myself yesterday that I could really use a new Kriegsmaschine album, and while that might not happen for another while, we at least have this KSM-sounding debut album from NIHILVM to balance our sunny June days with crushing darkness. While nothing like Nadyrr’s album from earlier this year, Life-Death-Empty gives it a run for its money for the best black metal debut album of 2022. If you like KSM, Mgla, or Bolzer, you should also like this material!
